Run for your life...

...Running for my life is exactly what it feels like I have been doing for this past month! I started running a few weeks ago but then it started to snow and once it had finally thawed, I had lost all motivation.

Then about three weeks ago my sister and I decided to go for an early Saturday morning jog to try and aid our weightwatchers progress (more on that later!). We signed up to Runkeeper and saw that they had a couch to 5k training plan... And the rest is history!!

We are now in our third week of running and I feel better than ever! It was really hard at first but now after a stressful day at work I look forward to nothing more than a good half an hour run to clear my mind. The runs started out small but the good thing about the training plan is that it tells you exactly how much running you need to do, for how far, or how long. You can change the days that you train but the good thing is that it keeps you motivated to keep at it and keep going!

Even though it has not particularly aided any weight loss, I can feel myself feeling better and fitter with every run. At the beginning if February I set myself a goal on Runkeeper to run 30km in a month, and I have just achieved it, with nine days left to go. I'm so proud of myself as it's something I never thought I'd be able to achieve.

Tomorrow is my rest day but my next run coincides with the start of March, which gives me the perfect opportunity to start another goal and push myself further. 40km, 50km, or 60km.... Who knows what I might choose but at the moment it feels as though I can take on the world and it feels great!

A week of ups and downs...

Well this week has seen the good, the bad and the ugly! After a great weekend, I was really impressed with myself on Monday evening when I managed a 1.5mile straight through run for the first time since I started my training plan (more on that later), without stopping or having to walk! I was so pleased with myself and felt I had reached a milestone.

Then came along a chest infection, which I think may have been brought on my running in such cold weather? And after that had calmed down after a couple of days, along came the dreaded cough...

Every time I seem to catch a cold or get run down, I develop this tickly cough that seems to last for WEEKS. I've had it for years, and each year it seems to get worse up to the point that this week it has affected my work (walking out of meetings unable to talk!), my sleep (woke up at 5.20am this morning in a coughing fit, and everyone knows I'm no good on less than 8 hours sleep!) and my confidence (coughing episodes on the bus even after preparing myself with water, lozengers, soft mints and gum).

So the end of the week has been pretty miserable but I'm in the Doctor's this afternoon and really hope he will give me something to help, as I can't last 9 weeks again on no sleep!

To top off my week I put 1.5lb on at weightwatchers last night! But I am trying to write that off.

Right, now that I have got all of that off of my chest (quite literally), it's only 8 hours away from the weekend!

Hello!

Hello, and welcome to my blog!

I started my first blog in 2004, when I was 15, and blogged about life, uni, and my love of writing. That was until I eventually forgot my password, and now those old blogs are inaccessible! Now aged 25 I thought it was about time that I set another one up to share with the world my inner thoughts - take this as warning, as sometimes it is not pretty!
